If you’re really not interested in visiting any food franchises whilst in Edinburgh then feel free to skip on ahead; that is unless I can tempt you with ‘the two hidden spots on the corners of Hanover Street.’
Of course when visiting Edinburgh, it is top priority to see and try the authentic local places, to feel the true experience of the city, it is any travellers’ obligation!
However, there is a time and a place for everything.
On the East corner of Hanover Streed next to its neighbouring store is a small glass door, signposted by the all too familiar burgundy logo of Costa. You will find the café ly above the entrance, and once you climb the stairs and find a seat by the window you will be revealed a gorgeous view across Princes Street and over into the old town. An unexpected delight after entering such an easily over looked entrance.
On the West corner, however if you’re feeling Japanese cuisine, along Princes Street is another unassuming glass door. This time emblazoned by the neon orange sign of Yo-Sushi! Inside will be a member of staff to greet you and an escalator up into the restaurant. Again, here there is a large window onlooking Princes Street and Old Towns charming architecture.
Insider Tip: As Yo-Sushi! is a restaurant you will be given your seats by the staff, you can ask for a window seat, but it is more likely that a single customer will be placed by the window than a group.
