Love chocolate? Then the Chocolate Tree, Product of the Year’s 2017 Winner chosen by Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Award, is your place.
Being a café and shop in one, the Chocolate Tree offers all a sweet tooth can desire: artisan pralines, bars, spears, cakes, ice cream and drinking chocolate. Their range goes from classical, white or dark hot chocolates to flavours like hazelnut, rose & vanilla or Mayan Style. And if somebody isn’t in the mood for some sweet delight, you can also get coffee, tea or milk shakes.
They create most of their products from scratch – from the bean to the bar. All ingredients are fresh and ethically sourced. The organic cacao comes from farms in Latin America, all respecting biodiversity. The prices for this premium quality are reasonable, chocolate bars cost between £4 and £6. A hot chocolate is between £3 and £3.40.
The café is small, but sweet. The fittings have a mixed style of Maghrebian and Southern American elements, especially the one-desk back room. Good luck with finding a table, but waiting is worth it!
Insider tip: They also offer churros, a delicious fried-dough pastry of Iberian origin. Dip it into your hot chocolate and enjoy!
